On April 29, 2008 the Laureate of International Competitions Natalia Sharoeva will give a performance of piano music in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts, 21 Prechistenka street. The program includes music by Mozart, Grieg, Shuman, Chaikovski, Rakhmaninov, Scryabin, Prokofiev.

The exotic animal has appeared in the Red Army district in Volgograd on the square in front of the children’s complex. Known for his huge monuments, this time Tsereteli has been over-modest: the figure is only about 0,5m tall. The sculptor says, that this artwork will destroy the stereotype of his being a creator of exclusively big sculptures.

On April 24, 2008 to mark the 74th anniversary of the institution of the rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union, the President of the Russian Academy of Arts together with Inter-Regional Public Foundation for Social Security “Law and Order – Shield” arranged in Tsereteli Art Gallery a Day of Heroes of Motherland: Heroes of the Soviet Union; Heroes of the Russian Federation and Full Knights of the Order of Glory.

In early May, 2008 the monument to the Russian officer Jacob Diachenko, the founder of Khabarovsk will be inaugurated near the site where the Russian troops first landed in the region. The 4m tall bronze sculpture to be installed on the 4m tall base has been designed by the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Rukavisjnikov in honor of the city’s 150th anniversary.

On April 16, 2008 at the award ceremony the celebrated poet, People’s Artist of Russia Ilya Reznik was presented with the gown, cap and medal of an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

The monument to the great Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky sculpted by the People’s Artist of Russia, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Michael Pereyaslavets will be unveiled in Tobolosk in Dostoevsky park near St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral not far from the transit jail where he was pending his fate.

On April 3, 2008 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, designer of the Wives of the Decembrists. Gates of Fate monument Zurab Tsereteli hosted a meeting with descendents of the Decembrists in Tsereteli Art Gallery. The monument was presented to the public on March 17, 2008 and had a wide coverage in the press.

A memorial plaque commemorating the great ballet dancer Galina Ulanova will be unveiled on March 26 on the house in Kotelnicheskaya Embankment in Moscow where she lived. It has been designed by the People’s Artist of Russia, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Anatoli Bichukov.

On March 18, 2008 at the session of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts the Order of St. Prince Alexander Nevski was awarded to the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. The reward was established by the Public Foundation for Support to Culture and Promotion of Modern Art.

On March 17, 2008 Tsereteli Art Gallery presents a sculptural composition: Wives of the Decembrists. Gates of Fate designed by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli. The sculptor has dedicated his new monument to the Year of Family in Russia. The unveiling ceremony will be followed by a concert of spiritual music.
