“Academic Art School” Exhibition in the New Manezh
From October 16 – November 4, 2007 the exhibition hall “New Manezh” (3/3 Georgievski lane, Moscow) offered an “Academic Art School” exhibition, an event within the framework of the program in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts.
The exhibition has been arranged by the Russian Academy of Arts, Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Government.
Training of artists of high professional level has been the principle goal of the Russian Academy of Arts throughout its history. The Academy art education combining the European experience and national traditions gained a wide recognition in this country and worldwide. The obligatory classical training as well as apprenticeship to masters representing diverse directions of modern art who run classes at the Academy workshops, study of Russian and world art form the basis of the modern academic art school.
The jubilee exposition comprised paintings, graphic art, sculpture, theatrical and monumental art by alumni of the Academy’s two big art institutions – I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. The display of works of a wide theme and genre range representing the entire diversity of artistic searches and experiments of young artists enabled the visitor to see the viability of traditions of Russian art and appreciate the young talents.print version
