SURIKOV READINGS: THE ALL-RUSSIAN RESEARCH CONFERENCE IN KRASNOYARSK

The Russian Academy of Arts invites you to take part in the XV-th All-Russian Research Conference “Surikov Readings”, that will take place in Krasnoyarsk in October 20-22, 2021. The Conference has been organized by V. Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art Museum in partnership with the Urals, Siberia and the Far East Regional Department of the Russian Academy of Arts (Krasnoyarsk) and the Regional Department of the All-Russian Public Organization “Association of Art Historians” under the auspices of the Culture Ministry of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

Set up in 1983, the “Surikov Readings” Conference has become a notable event in the Russian museum and art historian practice. In various years the Conference participants were art critics, historians, ethnographers, philosophers, culturologists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Saratov, Tomsk, Novosibirsk and other cities of Russia and CIS countries.

The Conference permanent topic is the work of Vasily Surikov that offers a good opportunity to study different aspects of the master’s creativity. Of major practice importance are studies relating to Russian art life in the second half of the 19th – 20th centuries, problems of folk and applied art, the role of educational entities in the development of artistic processes in Russia, etc. The traditional section of the Conference is devoted to the work of Siberian artists and art life in Siberia. In  2021, the special section will focus on  the 100 birth anniversary of Toivo Ryannel and the 95th anniversary of Andrey Pozdeev – distinguished Siberian artists whose  canvases are known in many countries.

The main themes of the Conference:

-the work of Vasily Surikov;

-Russian art of the second half of the 19th – 20th centuries;

-the art of Siberia.
