On September 25th, 2011 in Tsereteli Art Gallery (19 Prechistenka street, Moscow) the Russian Academy of Arts and the Nakashima Foundation for Peace (New Hope, Pennsylvania, U.S.A) held a cultural action in honor of the 10th anniversary of the presentation of the Table for Peace by George Nakashima as a gift to Russia.

On September 20-21, 2011 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli visited Ekaterinburg to take part in the opening of his solo show in the Sverdlovsk Regional Local History Museum. It presents 150 artist’s works including his paintings, graphic sheets, sculptures and 3D enamels.

On September 19, 2011 within his solo exhibition in the Constantine Palace in Strelna (near St. Petersburg) the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli gave a masterclass in painting for students of art schools organized in partnership with the Dialogue project aimed at the promotion of educational programs for children and students.

The official opening of the solo show of works by the American painter Nelson Shanks in Tsereteli Art Gallery in Moscow took place on September 16, 2011. It was attended by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation John Beyrle, diplomats, businessmen and figures of culture.

Through the Edict of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev the Order for Services to Motherland 3rd Rank was awarded to the People’s Artist of the USSR, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Efrem Zverkov “for his significant contribution to the promotion of Russian fine arts and life time achievements”.

On September 1, 2011 in the atrium of Tsereteli Art Gallery there was a celebration of the Day of Knowledge dedicated to the beginning of the school year in the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli welcomed the students and attendees and presented the Academy awards to the best teachers of the Lyceum.

On September 3, 2011 in Rybinsk there was a consecration of the Chapel of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker reconstructed in 2010-2011 under the supervision of the Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Nickolai Mukhin. He has recreated twenty seven monumental icons for the facades of the Chapel built in 1867, closed and heavily damaged in 1926-1927.

The Heritage Cup honoring hockey battles was presented by Russian-American Foundation, NY Daily News, Group Ten Development as part of the 9th Annual Russian Heritage Festival in New York. The Heritage Cup has been designed and presented as a gift by internationally acclaimed artist Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Founder and Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.

On August 7, 2011 in the Solovetsky Islands, within the Days of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repressions annually held here in the early August, near the Solovetsky Stone installed on the Alley of Memory in 1989 there was an unveiling ceremony for the monument to the Poles who had perished in the prison camp in the Solovetsky Islands. The memorial slab on the granite boulder designed by the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vyacheslav Bukhaev depicts two crosses – Catholic and Russian Orthodox and three holes symbolizing traces of bullets.

In honor of the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 to be celebrated in the early autumn of 2012 the prominent sculptor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of Russia, Honorary Member of the Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, winner of the USSR State Prize Alexander Burganov presented as a gift to the city of Orel a model of his 5m high equestrian monument to General Ermolov.
