HUMANISTIC FUNDAMENTALS AND SOCIAL FUNCTIONS OF ART

One of the principle goals of the Humanistic Fundamentals and Social Functions of Art fundamental researches of the Russian Academy of Arts is to promote the national diversity and creative communities in the world art, as well as the potential of the world culture and various forms of art. The creative initiatives are being considered both in the context of the implementation of artistic tasks and problems related to the possibilities of the society improvement through art, mutual respect and tolerance among nations, representatives of diverse cultures and religious confessions.

The initiative of holding the first international research conference “Humanistic Fundamentals and Social Functions of Art” will provide a possibility to consolidate scientific forces in the discussion of the most urgent problems in this field, to develop and emphasize timely ways for their solution, as well as will encourage the exchange of experience and further mutual partnership in the international humanitarian space.

The involvement in the Conference of representatives of younger generation along with distinguished scientists and figures of culture is aimed at showing the continuity of generations united by the existing system of scientific and creative knowledge and the possibility of maintaining a dialogue in the international humanitarian space.

Topics to be discussed at the Conference:

- Study of the potential possibilities of art in the struggle against negative tendencies in contemporary world: problems of upbringing of young people;

- Art as a way to affirm the principles of mutual respect, tolerance and mutual understanding among peoples: analysis of historical and cultural experience and modern solutions;

- Dialogue of cultures as a form of the 21st century diplomacy: art in the fight for peace;

- Art as a form of alternative therapy: the strength of spirit in overcoming physical illnesses.

The opening of the Conference will take place in the Hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts (“White Hall”, 21 Prechistenka street, Moscow) on September 8, 2011 at 11.00 am.

The application for the participation in the Conference shall be sent till August 25, 2011 and include: the Name and Surname, scientific degree, current position, E-mail, topic of the paper and its summary.

The Organizing Committee is entitled to select papers and reports. The results of the Conference are planned to be published in the special issue.

This Information Letter is an invitation for participation in the Conference.
