MYTHOLOGICAL DIMENSIONS OF CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN ART: RESEARCH CONFERENCE AT THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS
The Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA), the Department of Art History and Art Criticism, as well as the Urals, Siberia and Far East Reginal Department of the Russian Academy of Arts in partnership with the Institute of Cinema and TV invite you to take part in the Research Conference “MYTHOLOGICAL DIMENSIONS OF CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN ART”, that will take place at the Russian Academy of Arts on October 2 – 4, 2024. On October 2, 2024 in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts (19 Prechistenka steeet, Moscow) there will be the Conference opening ceremony and the Session for lectures by art theorists: aestheticians, philosophers, specialists in cultural studies. The Conference second day at the “Home Church” hall on October 3, 2024 will include lectures by art historians and artists. The Session on October 4, 2024 in the White Hall of the Academy will be a platform for lectures by young researches and post graduates of art institutions.
The topics to be discussed:
-the phenomenon of myth and its reception in the space of contemporary Russian art;
-Neo-mythological trends in the visual culture of the 20th – 21st centuries;
-bricolage models of today’s creativity;
-the existential and mythological in art: aspects of interaction;
-individual artistic myth-making: boundaries of utopia;
-the mythological tradition as a source of figurativeness in contemporary Russian art.
The Conference will be accompanied by publication of its proceedings. The Head of the Project is the Academician and Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Tatyana A. Kochemasova.
