IN HONOR OF THE 60TH JUBILEE OF THE HONORARY MEMBER OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS SHI ZEDONG

On July 06, 2022 the Chinese artist, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Shi Zedong is marking his 60th jubilee.

 

Shi Zedong was born in the Province of Heilongjiang in 1962. At the age of 16 he entered the School of Oil Painting of the Chinese Academy of Arts where he studied under the artist Jan Faiyun. Later he continued his education in Beijing and Oxford. He is an active participant of art exhibitions in China and many other countries. At present Shi Zedong holds the position of the Head of the International School of Arts and Design of Dalian University of Foreign Languages. “When I was young, I believed, that artists have no other obligations than the pursuit of beauty. Over time and accumulated experience I consciously tried to reflect social problems. A conscientious artist can create works not only for decoration, but also to promote social changes” – says the master.

 

The Presidium and the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli congratulated Shi Zedong on his 60th jubilee. The Letter of Greetings, in particular, runs:

     “You have passed a rich life path in contemporary art, after graduation from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing you upgraded your knowledge at the Oxford University, were elected a Member of the Artists’ Union of China and the Artists’ Union of France. Developing and combining in your creative work the national traditions and modern trends you successfully present the Chinese art at international exhibitions.

     The Russian Academy of Arts highly appreciates your achievements in the teaching and public activity, as well as your endeavors in the expansion of a cultural dialogue between Russia and China.

     I wish you health, implementation of your creative plans and great success in your work”.
