IN HONOR OF THE 60TH JUBILEE OF THE HONORARY MEMBER OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS VLADIMIR ANSELM
On April 21, 2022 the painter, sculptor, graphic artist, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vladimir Anselm is marking his 60th jubilee.
Vladimir Anselm was born in Perm in 1962, graduated from the Graphic Art Department of the Kazakhstan Pedagogical Institute and soon became a member of the art group “Baumanskaya, 13” together with V. Dubossarsky, V. Koshlyakov, A. Sigutin, Y. Shabelnikov, S. Shekhovtsov. Anselm belongs to a number of those artists who were an integral part of the Moscow art life in the 1990s.
Vladimir Anselm is known for his bold experiments: he creates art objects out of resin, anthracite, artificial stone, plastic; for his painting he uses big canvases-burlaps on which he paints with charcoal, acrylic and even sand. With all the variety of styles, forms and nuances of content his art is united in its purpose. Each subsequent exhibition becomes another version of “identification” of the European culture space in its various manifestations. Vladimir Anselm sees the main goal of his work in studying archetypes – the images and symbols which have been used by both romanticists, artists-wanderers and avant-garde artists. According to Anselm, each of them is based on religious fundamentals.
The Presidium and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli have congratulated Vladimir Anselm on his 60th jubilee. The Letter of Greetings, in particular, runs:
“Your creativity turned to the cultural “geology” of the Eurasian platform, to the primary source of all the beginnings, comprehension of the antiquity is distinguished by its unique style and your author’s technique with its complex and multipolar coloristics invariably excites imagination. You masterfully use diverse and unusual materials, that is an object of surprise and best expresses the huge variety of layers of your creative thought. Your works at numerous solo and group exhibitions – are always a submersion in the most interesting substrates of the past, that left their marks and were reflected in the present.
I wish you further creative success, personal happiness and wellbeing”.
Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts
