THE ROUND TABLE COMMEMORATING THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS EDWARD DROBITSKY (1941-2007) AT THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS
The Research and Organizing Department of the Russian Academy of Arts invites you to attend the Round Table in memory of the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, President of the Creative Artists’ Union of Russia, People’s Artist of Russia Edward Drobitsky (1941-2007) that will take place in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow) on November 19, 2021at 12.00.
The name of Drobitsky is a legend in artistic world. At the turn of the 1950-1960s Edward Drobitsky became one of the undisputed leaders of the Soviet underground art. In the most “stagnant” times he was elected the Head of the Moscow Committee of Graphic Artists in Malaya Gruzinskaya street and actually set up a creative organization that brought unofficial art out of the underground. Drobitsky was an active participant and organizer of exhibitions of avant-garde artists and nonconformists in Russia and other countries. The establishment of the Creative Artists’ Union of Russia is a distinguished milestone in his organizing activity.
It is significant to emphasize his important role in the implementation of the main directions of the development of the Russian Academy of Arts in the 1990s-2000s, his successful work as the Vice President of the Russian Academy of Arts in regions of Russia.
The works by Edward Drobitsky are in many Russian and international museums, galleries and private collections. For his creative career he has authored a lot of paintings, graphic sheets, posters, illustrated more than 100 books, worked as an artist-designer for over 200 performances and films. Drobitsky has won five Grand Prix at major international exhibitions.
Imbued with the spirit of innovations and bold experiments, the art of Edward Drobitsky continues to amaze the viewers and gain new admirers even now.
