PRESENTATION OF THE ACADEMY AWARDS ON JUNE 23-24, 2021

The Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts at its session on April 6,2021 made a decision to award the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga the title of the Foreign Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts. In accordance with this decision the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia Iskander K. Azizov on June 23, 2021 presented Mr. Khaltmaagiin Battula the Academy regalia and golden badge of the Honorary Member. At the award ceremony Iskander K. Azizov noted, that the President of Mongolia had made a great contribution to the promotion of humanitarian relations between the two countries and mutual cooperation in fine arts.

 

Khaltmaagiin Battulga is a professional sculptor, author of numerous artworks including the huge modern complexes dedicated to Genghis Khan with the 40m tall equestrian statue. In his Letter of Gratitude to the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Mr. Khaltmaagiin Battulga emphasized: "I consider this event as the most significant in my life and also as a high opinion of the Mongolian art school in general which has been created largely due to the enormous assistance of the Soviet Union and Russia in training specialists in various fields including culture. Very dear to me are my studies and memories of the student years rich in communication with teachers who were graduates of the best Art Institutes of the Russian Academy of Arts in Moscow and St. Petersburg (Leningrad). I highly appreciate this valuable knowledge and try to keep and develop traditions of the Russian and Mongolian schools of fine arts. I am confident, that this title is a step to further promotion of fruitful contacts between Mongolian and Russian artists. We are also planning to establish the Mongolian Academy of Arts following the example of the Russian Academy of Arts and hope for your assistance in its concept development".

 

On June 24, 2021 at the Russian Academy of Arts there was an award ceremony attended by the First Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Victor Kalinin, the Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the RAA Oleg Koshkin, Vice-President of the RAA Andrey Zolotov. The regalia of the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts was presented to the Sakhalin artist Du Men Su (Russia). The RAA Medal for the Services to the Academy was awarded to the People's Artist of Russia, Academician of the RAA Andrey Bliok for his many years and fruitful work and on the occasion of his 75th anniversary. The award ceremony was held in a closed format due to the difficult epidemiological situation.
