JUBILEE OF THE HONORARY FOREIGN MEMBER OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS GOCHA CHOGOVADZE

On January 11, 2021 the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Gocha Chogovadze marked his 80-th jubilee. The Presidium and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli congratulated the eminent diplomat on his jubilee and wished him further achievements in his work. The Letter of Greetings, in particular, runs: “You have entered the galaxy of outstanding diplomats and scientists of the world, professionals of multi-sided talent united under UNESCO, the reputable international organization which main areas of activity are science, education and culture.

The brilliant scientist and promoter of science, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, author of 20 monographs and a great number of scientific papers in the field of computer science and automated control systems, you have been a pioneer in researches of the influence of computer science on the development of education. Forty five years ago you have become a head of the UNESCO Department for Computer Science in Education, Chairman of the Georgian Committee for Science and Education, Rector of the Georgian Institute for Technologies. You have been elected a Member of the UNESCO Executive Council and become its Vice-President, today you are actively involved in the activity of UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education.

You are a man of many talents and boundless energy. Your unquestionable authority, high professional skills, great scientific potential and valuable experience allow you to reveal yourself in all your responsible positions and make a significant contribution to solving various problems of today’s world.

For me, as an artist, of special interest are your cultural initiatives. An authoritative expert who is open for a dialogue and can accurately justify and communicate his vision to the public, a man of encyclopedic knowledge and deep culture you have been appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the French Republic and Kingdom of Spain, as well as Permanent Representative of Georgia to UNESCO and provided your efficient support to the promotion of culture and art.

It is hard to overestimate your significant role in strengthening of international ties including cultural relations. Many Russian art projects have been implemented with your direct participation under the auspices of UNESCO. Due to your efforts the 250th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts has been included into the calendar of UNESCO most important events. You are a holder of numerous honors and awards and the Academy is proud to have you among our Honorary Members and highly appreciates our friendship, your extraordinary talent, excellent personal qualities that help you achieve all your goals”.
