INAUGURATION OF THE SCULPTURAL COMPOSITION “MONUMENT TO FUTURE STARS” BY ZURAB TSERETELI IN THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF THEATRICAL ART

On July 17, 2019 at the historical building of the State University of Theatrical Art in Maly Kislovsky Pereulok (Moscow) there was an unveiling ceremony for the sculptural composition “Monument to Future Stars” by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of Russia, Georgia and the USSR, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli.

The inauguration was attended by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA) Zurab Tsereteli, Vice-Presidents of the RAA Andrey Zolotov and Tatyana Kochemasova, Chief Scientific Secretary of the RAA Presidium Oleg Koshkin, Rector of the State University of Theatrical Art (GITIS) Grigory Zaslavsky, Rector of V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute Anatoly Lyubavin, Executive Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art Vasily Tsereteli, Academician of the RAA Manana Popova, members of the RAA, teachers of the State University of Theatrical Art.

Zurab Tsereteli has presented his monument as a gift to the State University of Theatrical Art. The sculptural composition in the form of a star has been executed in the technique of caulking on copper. The Rector Grigory Zaslavsky said, that he first had seen the sculpture in Tsereteli’s studio in Peredelkino: “I liked the composition very much and decided to ask Zurab Tsereteli to present it as a gift to  
GITIS to be placed on its site. The name “Monument to Future Stars” is a wishing of successful career to graduates of the State University of Theatrical Art”.
