UNVEILING OF THE MONUMENT TO ALEXANDER GRIBOEDOV (1795-1829) BY ZURAB TSERETELI
On December 24, 2018 in Tbilisi there was an unveiling ceremony for the monument to the Russian diplomat, poet, playwright, composer Alexander Griboedov (1795-1829) authored by the People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli.
The 2.1 m tall bronze sculpture found its home in A. Griboedov State Russian Drama Theater in Tbilisi and was presented by the sculptor as a gift to the theater. The Tbilisi Russian Drama Theater was set up in 1845 and named after Alexander Griboedov in 1934.
