The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Has Become a Full Cavalier of the Order “For Services to Motherland”

At the session of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts on March 18, 2014 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli has become a Full Cavalier of the Order “For Services to Motherland” which has four classes. The world renowned artist and sculptor has been awarded all the four classes (three of them in previous years) of the Order for his outstanding contribution to the state associated with the advances in peace, friendship and cooperation between nations.

The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Alexander D. Beglov congratulated Zurab Tsereteli on the high award of the Russian State and appreciated his distinguished achievements in fine arts, creative and public activity.

At the session the regalia of an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts were presented to Alexander D. Beglov - the Russian statesman, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District; Evgeny V. Gerasimov - Russian figure of culture; Ramil N. Bakhtizin – President of the Academy of Sciences of Bashkortostan.

The RAA Order “Peter the Great” was presented to the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, architect Mikhail M. Posokhin for his contribution to the recreation of the Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Kronstadt. The Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, sculptor Andrey A. Scherbakov was presented with the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.
