Sotheby’s Pre-Auction Exhibition at the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts

At the two-day exhibition in Tsereteli Art Gallery on October 24-25, 2013 Sotheby’s will present selected works called the most valuable show ever in Russia. The exhibition targeting Russian collectors precedes Sotheby’s auctions to be held this autumn and winter in London and New York and includes 45 works valued at a total of more than $140 million. Among them are masterpieces by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Alberto Giacometti, Nickolai Feshin, Robert Falk, as well as works by modern artists and Russian Imperial porcelain.

Of major interest at the preview are two not well-known landscapes of Venice by Giovanni Canaletto produced in 1738-1742 and three pictures by Pre-Raphaelites Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt, James Tissot to be exhibited for sale at the auction “Old Masters and English Painting” in London on December 4, 2013.
