Monument to Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Designed by Zurab Tsereteli Was Unveiled in Ruza

On August 30, 2013 in Ruza (Moscow Region) there was an inauguration of a monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya (1923-1941) designed by Zurab Tsereteli in honor of her 90th birth anniversary. The unveiling ceremony was attended by the acting Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society Vladimir Medinsky.

The 4.5 m high bronze sculpture of the young partisan tortured to death by Fascists in 1941 was presented as a gift to the city by the Russian Military Historical Society.
