Master Class of Zurab Tsereteli at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris as Part of Jubilee Events in Honor of the 100th Birth Anniversary of Sergey Mikhalkov
The Russian Culture Foundation under the auspices of the Government of the Russian Federation and Russian Ministry of Culture has initiated a jubilee program in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of Sergey Mikhalkov, Russian author of children’s books and satirical fables, lyricist for the Soviet and Russian anthems.
Within the above jubilee program in the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (7 Place de Fontenoy) from May 13 till May 17, 2013 there will be a retrospective exhibition “Sergey Mikhalkov – the 100th Birth Anniversary” including works by finalists of the International Competition in Children’s Drawings on motives of Sergey Mikhalkov’s works, his books published in many languages, photographs from Sergey Mikhalkov’s private archives, as well as meetings with figures of Russian culture, master classes for children.
The opening ceremony will take place at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on May 13, 2013 and be attended by the UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova and Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrophanova, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, Andrey Dementiev, Alexander Adabashyan, Egor Konchalovsky. Among specials guests will be Yury Bashmet (viola), Xenia Bashmet (piano), Alena Baeva (violin), Alexander Buzlov (cello).
On May 14, 2013 within the framework of the exhibition the world-renowned sculptor, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli will give a master class in painting for fifty children from Russia and other countries. Master classes of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli which he regularly gives in his Art Gallery in Moscow are a good opportunity for children to try their hand in painting and obtain a rare experience.
