Exhibition in Honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Moscow Artists’ Union in the Manezh Exhibition Hall
On June 19, 2012 in the Moscow Manezh Central Exhibition Hall there was an opening ceremony for “The Moscow Artists’ Union – 80” exhibition. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli attended the jubilee show including his canvases and sculptures.
In 2012 the Moscow Artists’ Union marks its 80th jubilee. Today, it unites more than six thousand artists of various creative directions and genres and is one of the largest creative unions in Moscow. In any corner of Moscow - from its Underground stations to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - one can see the contribution of Moscow artists to the beautification of the capital. Their works are in collections of major Russian museums and galleries.
The jubilee exhibition featuring several theme expositions organized by 9 sections of the Moscow Artists’ Union: painting; graphic art; sculpture; artists of theater, cinema and TV; decorative and applied arts; art design showcases the best achievements of the Moscow Artists’ Union in the course of its 80-year history. The noted Moscow masters such as V. Kalinin, G. Frangulyan, L. Baranov, A. Tsygal, V. Glukhov, I. Kazansky, V. Brinin, P. Nikonov, N. Nesterova, A. Sitnikov, V. Kulakov, N. Medvedev, V. Bubnov, L. Savelieva, A. Shmakova, A. Gorazdin exhibit their recent works created especially for the exhibition. On display are also drawings by renowned graphic artists L. Shepelev, A. Lyubavin, V. Dranishnikov, G. Efimochkin, E. Chernysheva-Cherna, A. Arkhipova, V. Gorshkov, A.Teslik and others.
The jubilee exhibition of the Moscow Artists’ Union is sure to become one of the major events in this year’s Moscow art life.
