Lecture and Masterclass by Gian Сarlo Venuto at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts and the Italian Institute of Culture invite you to attend a lecture “Technique of Fresco in the Old Roman Time and its Historical Signs on the Way from the Past to the Present” and masterclass by Gian Сarlo Venuto, a teacher of painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan (Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera di Milano) that will take place on April 7, 2010 at 12.00 in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts, 21 Prechistenka street.

Gian Carlo Venuto was born in 1951 in Codrolpo. In 1977 he received a diploma of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. He started to exhibit his works in 1974, almost immediately won the recognition of the public and was highly appreciated by specialists in art - he received a grant and became a participant of a group exhibition in the prestigious Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice. Since then Gian Carlo Venuto has been a frequent exhibitor in major international and solo shows in many countries of the world.

His teaching carrier began in the State Institute of Art in Udine. In 1985 he returned to the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice as an assistant of the Fine Arts and Art Anatomy Department and later a head of the Decorative Art Department. Since the mid-1990s Venuto headed a Department of Decorative Art and Restoration at Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Torino and simultaneously taught at the Mosaic School in Friuli di Spilimbergo. Since 1999 he has been teaching painting at the Brera Academy in Milan. Gian Carlo’s works are in private collections in Italy and other countries. In the Friuli-Venice-Giulia region he is represented in the city of Udine in the Gallery of Contemporary Art, in the University and the Chamber of Commerce building. His mosaics can be viewed in the City Museum in Pordenone. Of big interest are his huge fresco and mosaic at the entrance of the geriatric home in Codrolpo. At present, Colussa Art Gallery in Udine is hosting a show of works by Gian Carlo Venuto and his spouse Sonya Squillachi who is also an artist.
