The Russian Academy Of Arts

The presentation of the Gospel illustrated by Myud Mechev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation,  Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Art Worker of Karelia, Honorary Foreign Member of Kalevala Association (Finland) will take place in the press center of Arguments and Facts publishing house, 42 Myasnitskaya street, on February 18, 2009.

The book has been published by “Islands” publishing house in Petrozavodsk.  It is a result of enormous work by the graphic artist Myud Mechev for over 15 years: more than 300 illustrations for four books of the Gospel.

Myud Mechev has been decorated with a big silver medal of the Government of Finland and a medal of Elias Lonnrot for his significant achievements in the study and illustration of the Finnish National Epic Kalevala.  Pope John Paul II awarded the artist a silver medal of the Pontificate for humanism and achievements in art.

Over 50 solo exhibitions of works by Myud Mechev were held in Russia, Finland, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, New Zealand.
