Monument to Outstanding Neurophysiologist Natalya Bekhtereva Designed by Grigori Yastrebenetski to Be Unveiled in St. Petersburg

The bronze bust of the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Natalya  Bekhtereva (1924-2008) will be dedicated on the Glory Alley of St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions on September 1, 2008.  The sculpture, designed by People’s Artist of Russia Grigori Yastrebenetski, will find its home next to busts of Dmitri Likhachev, Michael Anikushin, Andrei Petrov, Natalya Dudinskaya and other distinguished people.

Natalya Bekhtereva, Doctor of Medicine, honorary citizen of St. Petersburg, for many years has headed the Human Brain Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.  She was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1984 and the USSR State Prize in 1985. Natalya Bekhtereva passed away in Hamburg on June 22, 2008 and  was buried in Komarovo near St. Petersburg.
