President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Welcomed Paul Kulikovski, Great-Grandson of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna in Tsereteli Art Gallery

On July 14, 2008 Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts had a meeting with Paul Kulikovski, great-grandson of grand duchess Olga Alexandrovna, sibling of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Paul Kulikovski is an economist and financier. He lives in Denmark, where Olga Romanova  resided till the end of her life.  The meeting has been also attended by Elena Ryurikova, director-general of a Charity Foundation set up in Moscow in 2006 by Dmitri Romanov,  great great-grandson of the Russian Emperor Nicholas I.  He is a president of the Foundation.    

The meeting was held on the verge of  the 90th anniversary of the assassination of the Emperor’s family in Ekaterinburg.  On July 17, 2008 members of the Romanov dynasty will be present at the service in St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Today, the link of times is being restored, members of the Romanov family take part in the spiritual and public life in Russia.

Zurab Tsereteli showed the attendees his Night at the Ipatiev House sculptural composition dedicated to the tragic death of the last Russian  Emperor’s family.  Tsereteli noted, that it was his moral obligation to depict the tragedy through art and for him, the contribution to strengthening of eternal spiritual, moral and family values had always been of major significance.

Paul Kulikovski has highly appreciated the sculpture depicting the drama of the family  and expressed his hope, that light times are coming Russia and his presence here is an attempt to construct a bridge between the past and the future.
