Zurab Tsereteli Expressed Condolences Over Chinghiz Aitmatov’s Death

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli has sent a cable of condolences over Chinghiz Aitmatov’s death, press service of Kyrgyzstan President informs.

“We present to the people of the Kyrgyz Republic our deep grief on the occasion of the death of Chinghiz Aitmatov, an illustrious writer of these days, prominent statesman and diplomat, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts.  His creative work has inspired many artists, members of the Academy. Let Chinghiz Aitmatov be remembered forever in our hearts” – runs the cable.

On December 10, 2006 the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Benelux and France Chinghiz Aitmatov attended the dedication ceremony for Zurab Tsereteli’s monument to Pope John Paul II in Ploermel, France.  In his speech of welcome at the unveiling ceremony he highly appreciated  Zurab Tsereteli as an “outstanding personality of the world culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, who confirms in all his artworks the significance of humanism for the spiritual opulence of mankind”.
