Consecration Ceremony for Chapel of St. Sergius Radonezhsky in the Village of Korovino, Tver Region

The consecration ceremony for the Chapel of St. Sergius Radonezhsky took place in the village of Korovino, Tver region on May 23, 2008. The Chapel designed by Sergei Kuznetsov, architect and Prof. of the Moscow State University, is a donation of Valentin Sidorov, People’s Artist of USSR, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, Winner of State Prizes of USSR and RF, Head of the Artists’ Union of Russia, President of International Confederation of Artists’ Unions of CIS countries.

The Chapel commemorates countrymen of the village of Korovino, all male villagers of which were recruited to the Army in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and only one of them survived and came back to his home.

The ceremony was attended by Dmitri Zelenin, Governor of Tver region, members of the Russian Academy of Arts and Artists’ Union of Russia.
