Jubilee of People’s Artist of USSR Valentin Sidorov

On May 13, 2008 the Russian Academy of Arts, 21 Prechistenka street,  will celebrate the 80th anniversary of Valentin Sidorov, People’s Artist of USSR, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Winner of State Prizes of USSR and RF, Head of the Artists’ Union of Russia, President of the International Confederation of Artists’ Unions of CIS countries.

Born in 1928, Valentin Sidorov is a prominent Russian painter, a recognized master of landscapes.

In 1954 Valentin Sidorov graduated from V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute.  His childhood, spent in the country, has determined the direction of the artist’s painting. In his works is felt a boundless love of villagers, Russian nature, the rural way of life. His favorite topic is everyday life and holidays in modern countryside.

By vocation, Sidorov is a master of lyrical landscape who equally well works in genre painting. In his landscapes and genre canvases created for many years Valentine Sidorov has revealed himself as a Russian artist who remained true to himself in his love to his Motherland.

Valentine Sidorov has also showed his talent in literature. His stories have become an interesting addition to his paintings as they are united by the same feelings and spirit.
