The exotic animal has appeared in the Red Army district in Volgograd on the square in front of the children’s complex. Known for his huge monuments, this time Tsereteli has been over-modest: the figure is only about 0,5m tall. The sculptor says, that this artwork will destroy the stereotype of his being a creator of exclusively big sculptures.
 
The hippopotamus was unveiled yesterday and the children have immediately invested the city’s new character with some magic properties: if you touch his ears, your dream will come true. The children’s numerous wishes ranged from excellent marks in school, voyage to the seaside to some ice-cream.

Zurab Tsereteli’s visit to Volgograd was short, after the opening ceremony he left for Moscow to create his new works.
