Monument to Admiral Kuznetsov Sculptured by People’s Artist of Russia Michael Pereyaslavets Will Find its Home in the Center of Moscow

     The Moscow authorities have backed up the initiative of the Russian Public Movement for Support to the Navy to create a monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Admiral of the Fleet  Nicholai Kuznetsov.  The statue will be placed in the park near the intersection of Boyarski Lane and Sadovo-Chernogryazskay street.
     “The bronze monument has been designed by the People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Professor Michael Pereyaslavets and will be presented  to the city of Moscow as a gift from the Russian Public Movement  for Support to the Navy” – informed the city administration.
     At the age of 34 Nicholai Kuznetsov  (1904-1974) became the Navy People’s Commissar,  at the age of 40 -  Admiral  of the Fleet of the USSR. He is a Hero of the Soviet Union, Knight of four Lenin Orders, three Orders of Red Banner, two  Orders of Ushakov 1st grade and other state awards.
     On the initiative of Admiral Kuznetsov, since 1939 the last Sunday of July has been marked as the Navy Day in Russia.
     The only currently in service in the Russian Navy heavy aircraft carrying cruiser commissioned in 1991 bears the name of Admiral Kuznetsov.
