Nicholai Mukhin, People’s Artist of Russia and Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts Has Been Honored with a High Award of the Serbian Orthodox Church for His Wall Paintings in the Cathedral of Transfiguration of Our Savior in Zagreb
The People’s Artist of Russia, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts Nicholai Mukhin has been awarded the Serbian Orthodox Church Order of Catherine Brankovich 1st Grade for his murals in the Cathedral of Transfiguration of Our Savior in Zagreb.
The wall painting covers a vast area of nearly 1000 square meters. It took the artist a year and a half to execute the commission. The murals were consecrated on August 19, 2007 – the Day of Transfiguration of Our Savior.
As RIA-News informs, on this occasion the Archbishop of Ryazan and Kasimov Paul, who came to Zagreb on the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexi II, has served a liturgy in the Cathedral together with the Bishop of Moravici and Head of the Serbian Orthodox Mission in Moscow Anthony. The mass was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Croatia Michael Konarovski and numerous parishioners.
