The highest decoration of France will be presented to the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. The National Order of the Legion of Honor (Ordre national de la Legion d’honneur) was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 and is awarded by the President of France. In his letter dated February 1, 2010 the French President Nicolas Sarkozy has specially noted: “This authoritative decoration which I have considered it necessary to confer on you from my personal reserves of crosses is an expression of gratitude for your services to this country and proved devotion to France”.

The portrait of Gury Marchuk, the prominent Russian scientist in the fields of computational mathematics and physics of atmosphere, President of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1986-1991 has been created by the People’s Artist of Russia Vasily Nesterenko. The handover ceremony at the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences was attended by President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yury Osipov.

On January 27, 2010 Zurab Tsereteli visited Stavropol to take part in the closing of his solo exhibition. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Stavropol Krai (federal subject of Russia) Valery Gaevsky, the Mayor of Stavropol Nikolai Paltsev.

On January 15, in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, there was a round table on “Ethics-Aesthetics, Criticism – Clinic” curated by Evelina Shats. The focus of the discussions was a solo show of works by Fausta Squatriti entitled ECCE HOMO and organized by the Russian Academy of Arts, Italian Institute of Culture and the Brera Academy in Milan.

To mark the 100th birth anniversary of the eminent diplomat and politician Andrei Gromyko, a memorial plaque designed by Zurab Tsereteli was unveiled on the wall of the house in Leontievsky Pereulok where he had lived from 1963 till 1989. Andrei Gromyko served as Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union from 1957 till 1985 and was the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in 1985-1988.

Legal Support. Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts specified main problems of preservation of the Russian system of Academic education and submitted proposals for its development.

In the session timed to the artist’s 65th death anniversary will take part descendents of several branches and generations of the Kandinsky family tree.

On November 24, 2009 the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum, 8 Krymsky Val, will mark its 70th anniversary. It was set up in 1939 as the Moscow Secondary Art School. In 1951 the School became a division of the USSR Academy of Arts and in 1992 was reformed into the Moscow State Academy Art Museum.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli has recreated without indemnity the bronze doors of the mausoleum of the eminent Russian commander Prince Dmitry Pozharsky who set Moscow free from invaders in the Time of Troubles, as the Director General of the Suzdal Museum-Preserve Alisa Aksenova informed at the press-conference in Vladimir on October 22, 2009. She expressed her gratitude to the renowned sculptor for his noble action.
