THE JOY OF LIFE: THE JUBILEE SOLO EXHIBITION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS ZURAB TSERETELI IN PENZA

K. Savitsky Penza Regional Picture Gallery and the Russian Academy of Arts present the solo exhibition of works by the world renowned sculptor and artist, the People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli timed to the master’s 90th jubilee. The exhibition features 44 canvases, 25 silkscreen printings fr om the “Sheets from the Album” series, as well as a dozen of 3-D enamel panels and bronze sculptures from the “Circus” cycle.  

 

It is hard to overestimate the contribution of Zurab Tsereteli to the culture of not only this country, but also of the world as a whole. His art unites generations and countries, his legacy would be enough for several lifetimes. Tsereteli’s art has always been original and recognizable, it is distinguished by the artist’s unique world vision, the power of his character, the audacity of an experimenter. The master through his creative searches has managed to combine almost all the types, genres and techniques of fine arts. His rare love of life, admiration for the beauty of a human, nature, the highest manifestations of human soul have been reflected in his works full of energy and passion, the joy of life.

 

Zurab Tsereteli was born on January 4th, 1934 in Georgia, in 1958 he graduated from the Tbilisi Academy of Arts wh ere he majored in painting, The artist honors the traditions of the academic art school, as well as the lessons taught by the noted masters Vasily Shukhaev and Evgeny Lanceray. At the same time, the master is open to new models of the dialogue with the viewer and brilliantly works in the space of contemporary art. The unique artworks by Zurab Tsereteli created in various types and techniques of fine arts adorn streets and squares, state and public buildings of Moscow, cities of Russia and CIS, as well as such countries as the United States, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Syria, Uruguay, etc. The creative work of the eminent artist has been highly appreciated by numerous Russian and international honors and awards.
