Venue:  Exhibition Halls of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow)

The Russian Academy of Arts presents a solo exhibition of the People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Dmitry Sandzhiev timed to the master’s upcoming jubilee. Entitled “Insights” the exhibition showcases more than 100 works produced by the artist in various years.

Dmitry Sandzhiev’s works are distinguished by impeccable compositions and rhythms, perfect harmony of color.  The fancy ornamentation, color symbolism, plant and animal motifs add to his works a sharp decorativeness and picturesque sophistication. The artist creates pictures using both traditional and unique author’s techniques, gold leaf, natural stones and crystals. Within the framework of an easel painting he depicts in his canvases and wooden panels fantastic worlds reflecting the harmonious beginning of all things.

The deep associativity and metaphorical character of the artist’s creativity are based not only on his own life experience but also on the legacy of previous generations. His artworks implementing the ideas of unity and spirituality of the universe are resulted from his study of the art of ancient eastern and western civilizations, as well as the fundamentals of paganism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. The master is often inspired by mythology and epic which interpretations are combined in such series as “Myths of the Planet” and “Slavic Legends”. According to the curators, “the “Insight” exhibition is a gift for all those who see in art the bridge between the temporary and eternal, explicit and secret, human and superhuman”.
