The Russian Academy of Arts hosts an exhibition of the 8th Interregional Project “Picturesque Russia. These are noted masters of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, Victor Kalinin, Alexey Sukhovetsky, Victor Glukhov, Anatoly Lyubavin, Konstantin Petrov, Yury Kalyuta, Victor Rusanov, as well as young artists, followers of the realistic school of painting including students and graduates of the Creative Workshops of the Russian Academy of Arts.  The exposition of more than 100 canvases is divided into three sections: city life; images of contemporaries and Russian nature.

The easel painting is of great significance in Russian art and has rich traditions passed down from generation to generation. Works of contemporary painters combine both the world experience and possibilities of innovative techniques and materials. Each epoch contributes to the development of the traditional types of art. The goal of the Project is to showcase this process, the inner dramaturgy of art schools and trends of Russian painting, to present the new vision of young artists. According to the Project head, People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, the First Vice-President of the Creative Artists’ Union of Russia Evgeny Romashko, today the reflection of the national self-awareness in art, turning of the creators to the origins of their culture and preservation of traditional values  are especially relevant.  “The Project presents works which reflect today’s life, the beauty of our culture and nature, our mentality and worldview” – says Romashko.
