The exhibition “Shades of the East” presents paintings, graphic sheets and decorative art of the Academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts Elena Tsereteli and Tatyana Kochemasova.

Elena Tsereteli is an Honored Art Worker of Russia, PhD in Art History, graphic artist, specialist in the museum and exhibition, as well as publication activities. She works in transparent and color glass covering vases and other objects with the intricate ornamental pattern. The artist draws inspiration from the beautiful, love for work with fragile materials, the aesthetic of transparent color glass refracting light.

Tatyana Kochemasova is a PhD in Art History, Member of the Creative Artists’ Union of Russia, and the Association of Art Historians. Her picturesque landscapes, still lives, portraits executed in rich colors fill the exhibition space with optimism and sweet simplicity of the eternal wisdom of life – love for peace, people, animals and the surrounding nature.

Their works are united by the graphics of the ornamental drawing, textures and color combinations. The ornament acts as a kind of a mobile interface which sets the pace of the exhibition. “Shades of the Orient” is one of the moods that can be caught  in the compositional and coloristic solutions of both artists. The viewer senses it in the meditative character of the running lines in works by Lika Tsereteli and  in the selection of themes similar to those in the oriental and Chinese calendar by Tatyana Kochemasova.
