The Russian Academy Of Arts

Venue: The exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow). The entrance into the building of the Russian Academy of Arts is only upon presentation of the QR-code and Identification document.

 

The Russian Academy of Arts presents a solo exhibition of the noted graphic artist, one of the top masters of serigraphy, Honored Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Boris Belsky entitled “The First Squadron”.

 

The maritime theme has become the main topic in the master’s work since his student years. The talent of the artist has brilliantly revealed itself in works dedicated to the glorious history of the Russian Navy, everyday life of seamen, ships and sea battles, achievements of Russian shipbuilding. For more than 30 yearsб Boris Belsky has been working in the unique author’s technique of silkscreen painting. The artist uses various materials in an innovative way including metal, fabric, paper. The complex plasticity of his graphic cycles “Ship Architecture”, “Ship Building”, “Boat” and “The First Squadron” is complemented by the amazing installation - the sail of the Formosa” yacht under which the world famous traveler, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Fyodor Konyukhov circumnavigated the world, that is presented at the main staircase of the historical mansion in 21 Prechistenka street.

 

Boris Belsky was born in Moscow on September 27, 1960 in the family of the graphic artist Felix Belsky. In 1984 he graduated fr om the Graphic Department of V. Surikov Moscow State Institute of Arts and Architecture wh ere he studied under Nickolai Ponamarev, Boris Uspensky. The artist upgraded his professional skills in international Print Schools in Netherlands, Great Britain, USA. Since 1980 he has been participating in Republican and All-Russian exhibitions, international Biennale of Graphics (Sapporo, Maastricht, Pusan, Kaliningrad). In 1993 Belsky became the Head of the Creative Workshop of Serigraphy of the Russian Academy of Arts. The artist has been actively involved in the public and patronage activity. In Severomorsk he organized a major exhibition of modern graphic works dedicated to the Navy which he presented as a gift to the city. His works are in many museum and private collections in Russia and other counties.
