CREATIVE WORKSHOP OF SCULPTURE. EXPERIENCE AND SEARCHES: EXHIBITION IN THE MUSEUM AND EXHIBITION COMPLEX OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS

The Russian Academy of Arts presents the exhibition “Creative Workshop of Sculpture. Experience and Searches” timed to the 30th anniversary of the Sculpture Workshop of the Russian Academy of Arts in Moscow. The exhibition brings together more than 100 works by recognized masters-Academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts, its graduates and post-graduates providing an opportunity to trace the continuity of principles of the academic school and the whole system of art education. The creative workshops of the Russian Academy of Arts have been set up after the revival of the Academy in 1947 for the most gifted graduates of art institutes to have their skills upgraded under the supervision of eminent artists.

The display starts with works of the People’s Artist of the USSR, Academician Vladimir E. Tsygal (1917-2013) who was the founder of the Creative Workshop of Sculpture in Moscow and headed it for more than 20 years. In 2012 he was followed by his son and pupil – People’s Artist of Russia, Academician and Member of the RAA Presidium Alexander V. Tsygal. It also includes works by renowned teachers of V. Surikov Moscow Art Institute, Academicians Mickhail Pereyaslavets (1949—2020), Alexander Rukavishnikov, Vladimir Koshelev, Andrey Balashov, Dmitry Tugarinov and others.   

The artists – trainees of the Sculpture Workshop are actively involved in today’s art life and have become holders of many prizes and awards. Among them, recently the most famous were A. Dmitriev, I. Korotchenko, E.Dubrovina, V. Mishov, A. Agbunov, P. Zhuravlev, V. Kurochkin, D. Melnikov, L.Bobokulova, V. Kirillov, O. Kolosova, S Serezhin, F. Karakhanov, S. Dzidzoev, etc. The major exhibition as a meeting place for masters of several generations gives new urges for development of the art of sculpture.
