Dates: March 05 – May 31, 2021

Venue: The Belgorod State Museum of Folk Culture

61 Grazhdansky Prospect, Belgorod, Russia

The Belgorod State Museum of Folk Culture hosts a solo exhibition of the People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. The name of the exhibition “The Knowledge of Good” reflects the main idea of Zurab Tsereteli’s creative concept – the knowledge of a man and the world through art.

The exhibition presents more than 20 enamels produced by the artist in his unique technique and mostly dedicated to the Gospel topics “The Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem”, “Epiphany of the Lord”, “Candlemas”, “Annunciation” and others. The display is complemented by the model of Tsereteli’s monument “Good Defeats Evil” installed on the front ground of the United Nations building in New York in 1990.

The religious theme as a search of the spiritual, moral ideal in the space of fine arts is of special significance in the work of the artist. The world of Biblical images created by Zurab Tsereteli is extremely diverse and original. At the same time, in these works of the master we can sense our reality, the events that continue to be of our concern and excite us. The enamels exhibited in the Belgorod Museum radiate extraordinary purity with all their structure, colorful range, soft lines of expressive silhouettes and perfect composition.
