IN ANTICIPATION OF THE VICTORY: EXHIBITION PROJECT IN HONOR OF THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT VICTORY

The exhibition in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War presents unique photographs and video materials from the archives of  Russia Today information agency, the Russian Academy of Arts and private collections.

On display are photo portraits of Academicians - artists, architects, art historians, figures of art who went through the War, losses, injuries, but decided to devote their lives to art. These are such distinguished masters as Michael Kurilko-Ryumin, Anatoly Levitin, Mai Miturich-Khrebnikov, Andrey Mylnikov, Vladimir E. Tsygal and Victor E. Tsygal, Boris Nemensky, Alexey Tkachev and Sergey Tkachev, Boris Ugarov, Lev Kerbel, Grigory Yastrebenetsky and many others.

The photo chronicles of the Russia Today agency prove, that preservation of the cultural heritage, the great creative power of art have united front and rear, helped people to survive, gave a premonition of the Victory. The camera of a military photographer has captured unique shots – evacuation of the treasures from the Hermitage and its empty halls (1941), editing of the film “Valery Chkalov” by Friedrikh Ermler and Alexander Ginzburg, shooting of the Ivan the Terrible film by Sergey Eisenstein  (1945), performances of the front theaters, etc.

The special section of the exhibition is dedicated to video materials with recollections of the Academicians who took part in combat actions.
