Alexander Rukavishnikov, born October 02, 1950, is one of the eminent masters of modern sculpture, People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, author of renowned monuments such as the monument to Fyodor Dostoevsky at the Russian State Library, monument to Alexander II at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, monument to Yury Nikulin at the Moscow Circus in Tvetnoy Boulevard, “Spartak” sculpture at the stadium “Otkrytiye Arena” in Moscow and many others. A bold experimenter in sculptural forms the artist has created a vast gallery of extraordinary sculptures distinguished by his original vision of the world and philosophical understanding of the existence.

The exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery in Krymsky Val brings together sculptural works spanning Alexander Rukavishnikov’s career and showcases his constant drive to invent and innovate.
