Surikov State Moscow Art Institute, Chinese People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, Chinese Society of Art Photography and Union of Entrepreneurs – Photographers of China present an exhibition project in honor of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.

Zhou Fuming is a successful investor who revealed himself not only as a businessman, but also as an artist and photographer. He is a President and Managing Director of several Chinese leading companies and public organizations (“V Star Capital”, “The Chinese Society of Entrepreneurs’ Photography” and “The Shanghai Society of Entrepreneurs’ Photography”). Zhou Fuming started studying painting in his childhood in the Shanghai Art School. Since the 1970s he has been actively involved into the exhibition and creative activity, his works were exhibited in art shows in Shanghai and published in major periodical editions. Zhou Fuming is an author of more than 500 paintings thematically exposing the complex and non-linear rhythm of everyday and public life of China after the “cultural revolution”. Portraits of friends and the near ones, natural and industrial landscapes, cityscapes make a kind of a historical diagram, where the correlation of social, political and aesthetic “values” is becoming a central problem in the artist’s painting.

However, the easel painting and its ambiguous fate in the time of digital media and China’s economic growth are not all that is interesting to Zhou Fuming. One more direction of his creative searches is art photography. He uses his camera as an instrument for exploring the reality. In different techniques and styles are depicted scenes resulting from his traveling. They are not only a record of events and states, but also a “dense description” of the photographer-anthropologist. There is no “tourist view” there, it is substituted by the multi-level language of visual and socially oriented study of geography and history through art and communication. Thus, for instance, during his first trip to Dunhuang (2007) – the ancient historical center of the Great Silk Way – Zhou Fuming combined his creative work with cooperation with the Chairman of Dunhuang Culture Foundation.

Not less important for Zhou Fuming is his charitable activity. All the profits from auctions are directed by the artist to charitable foundations. Along with his solo exhibitions Zhou Fuming participates in profitable charitable projects.
