EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY THE PEOPLE’S ARTIST OF RUSSIA KONSTANTIN PETROV IN P. TCHAIKOVSKY MOSCOW STATE CONSERVATORY

The exhibition in P. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory presents over thirty works by the Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of Russia Konstantin Petrov, whose art combines academic traditions and innovative trends. The artist tries himself in different techniques, types and genres of art. His most favorable materials are watercolors and pastel, among his genre priorities are landscape and still life though he is also well-known for psychological portraits of his contemporaries.

The painter and graphic artist Konstantin Petrov is a holder of the Order of Friendship (2011), member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, Vice-President of the Creative Artists’ Union of Russia, member of the Moscow Union of Artists, member of the Expert Council of V. Vereschagin Studio of Artists (Moscow).

He was born in Smolensk in 1964 in the family of the artist, Honored Art Worker of Russia, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vitaly Petrov and art historian Galina Podberesskaya. A graduate of V. Surikov Moscow Art Institute, in 1991 he perfected his skills in the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe (Germany), in 1992-1995 – worked and lived in Spain. Konstantin Petrov is a participant of more than 300 exhibitions both Russian and international. At present, he is an Associate Professor of V. Surikov Moscow Art Institute and S. Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, teacher of painting and drawing in M. Litovchenko GITR Film and Television School. The artist’s works are in many museum collections in Russia and other countries.
