The Russian Academy of Arts presents a book exhibition commemorating the 90th birth anniversary of Liudmila Shushkanova - the noted master of decorative and applied arts, People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, winner of the State Prize in Literature and Arts, holder of many honors and awards.

Liudmila Shushkanova was born in Vladimir on March 26, 1926. In 1951she graduated from the Moscow Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts.She was one of the leading masters of art glass. For almost 50 years she worked in creative partnership with D.N. Shushkanov in various genres and materials of decorative art but always preferred the glass. Their achievements in art glass were based on the combination of the creative search of beauty and plastic harmony of the surrounding world of objects, strife for improvisation and constant experiments in the technique of free-blown colored glass. Her art works are in museum collections in Russia and other countries.
