The Russian Academy of Arts, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Moscow and Moscow Museum of Modern Art present “Russia – 24 Carats” exhibition – a series of photo portraits of distinguished figures of  Russian art, culture and science. The project of Ralf Gromminger and Tilda George was initiated in 2010 when they set out in search of the most celebrated and eminent Russian producers, scientists, artists, composers, public figures whose fates and deeds are a quintessence of scientific, cultural and public life in today’s Russia.

On view is a portrait gallery of 29 personalities representing several generations – photographs against the background of a gold leaf giving the portraits an incredible and fascinating dramatic effect. The author of photo-portraits Ralf Gromminger is a free-lance photographer working with art, advertising and polygraphy.  Since 1997 his works have been exhibited in group and solo shows in Berlin, Salzburg, Kornwestheim, Saarbrucken, etc. Awards: 1996 – Clio Award, San Francisco; 1997 – Caap and Golden Award in multi-media, Montreux.

Tilda George is a multi-media designer. The superfine golden surface made by her for the photo-portraits emphasizes the image that obtains multidimensionality and surrealistic effect attributable to icon painting.  In 1991-1993 she was a producer of the children’s program BASTI-BUBU, worked on the film WOLFSSCHLUCHT by Annie Jacobs, an author of multi-media design for the exhibition Prometheus – Menschen, Bilder, Visionen in the Museum of German History in Berlin.
