Contemporary Artists of Bahrain. New Horizons: Exhibition in Honor of the Days of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Russia

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Culture Ministry of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Russian Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Russia present an exhibition of internationally recognized Bahrain’s leaders of contemporary art – Ms. Balqees Fakhroo, Mr. Abdulrahim Sharif, Sh. Rashid Al Khalifa, Mr. Khalil Al Hashemi, Mr. Ahmed Baqer.
Throughout centuries rich Oriental traditions of the culture of Bahrain located on the crossroads of merchant sea routs have been combined with Western influences. The 20th century introduced radical changes in the country’s political and economic situation and created favorable conditions for the promotion of cultural live. In the 1970-s, besides masters working in the classical manner there appeared a generation of artists-experimenters. Today, they are considered as pioneers who laid the foundation for Bahrain’s modern art, introduced new trends and techniques.
The exhibition is a rare opportunity to trace the evolution of the country’s contemporary fine arts from a figurative painting to almost calligraphic graphic art, through abstract compositions to 3D converse objects.
