The Siberian and Far East Department of the USSR Academy of Arts in Krasnoyarsk (now – the Urals, Siberia and Far East Regional Department of the Russian Academy of Arts in Krasnoyarsk) was set up in 1987. To head the first creative workshop of painting in Krasnoyarsk was invited the Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts from Leningrad Anatoly Levitin, who accepted the proposal without hesitation and had been heading the above Creative Workshop for 25 years.

This year Anatoly Levitin, the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician and Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Head of the Urals, Siberia and Far East Regional Department of the Russian Academy of Arts in Krasnoyarsk is marking his 90th anniversary.

Works by Anatoly Levitin are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Russian State Museum, art museums in Krasnoyarsk, Perm, Taganrog, Naberezhnye Chelny, Alma-Aty, Barnaul, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Artists’ Union of Russia, as well as in private collections in Russia and other countries. Anatoly Levitin is a holder of the Silver Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts (1957), Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2002), Bronze Medal of the World Exhibition in Brussels (1958), Gold A. Pushkin Medal (1999), Chevalier of the Order of the Great Patriotic War II Rank, Order of Friendship, Order of Honor.
