Maria Krasilnikova and Alexander Vagner: Exhibition at the Russian Academy of Arts

The exhibition presents the work of two artists known both in monumental and easel art – People’s Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Maria Krasilnikova and the People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Vagner. The exhibition duet is based on their personal friendship, common vision of the form, contents and goals of art.

Maria Krasilnikova is a master of almost all types and techniques of monumental art. In 1979 she graduated from S. Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry where she majored in monumental painting under Prof. G.M. Korzhev. She has been involved in many projects in Moscow and other cities of Russia: fountain in the shape of a luminous ball in the House of Music; installation “Bunches of Flowers” in the technique of the Florentine mosaic in the lobby of its Small Hall; stained glasses for the Philarmonic Society in Birobidzhan and Embassy of Kuwait in Moscow; mosaic work for a health resort in Marfino near Moscow; fountain in front of Rizhsky railway station in Moscow (in partnership with Igor Pchelnikov). In her easel art Maria Krasilnikova prefers painting which for her is an area of knowledge and her own discoveries, searches for forms of modern painting.

Alexander Vagner works in easel sculpture, sculpture of small forms and monumental art. In 1976 he graduated from V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. The city of Lipetsk and Lipetsk region boast of his monumental compositions that became landmarks of the region. Alexander Vagner is also an author of portraits, theme and allegorical compositions.
