Alexander Borisov and Alumni of His Studio: Jubilee Exhibition at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by the renowned Russian cinema artist, veteran of “Mosfilm” Film Studio Alexander Borisov who is going to celebrate this year his 85th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of his teaching activity in the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography.

The People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Laureate of the USSR State Prize and Nike Prize, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Borisov has made designs for a lot of legendary films since the late 1950s till the present day including “Anna Karenina”, “Mumu”, “Thirty Three”, “One Hundred Days after Childhood”, “Office Romance”, “Garage”, “Station for Two”.

On display at the Russian Academy of Arts are his over 200 easel paintings and graphic works, designs for films of various years from the collection of the State Museum of Cinematography, Moscow Union of Artists and private collections. They are among works of more than his 20 pupils who are both professional artists and today’s students. Professor Alexander Borisov wanted this exhibition to be the reminiscences of his life as an artist.

His paintings and graphic works are in collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Cinematography, “Mosfilm” Film Studio, Moscow Union of Artists, in regional art museums in Bryansk, Krasnoyarsk and many other cities.
