Oscar Kacharov (1924-2007). Painting: Exhibition at the Russian Academy of Arts

The exhibition at the Russian Academy of Arts features paintings by the Honored Artist of Russia Oscar Kacharov (1924-2007), who belonged to the legendary generation of the 1960s whose work contributed to the development of new art trends in the Soviet Union. The master has created and upheld his own painting concept – the system of ten colors.

On display are works produced by Oscar Kacharov in various years. He was born in Kiev and studied in V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute under S. I. Dudnik and D.D. Zhilinsky. A master of academic painting, since 1985 the artist-intellectual has preferred working in his original manner. For 25 years he created and perfected his concept of ten colors searching for an art form to adequately depict his philosophical views of the world and to disclose unlimited possibilities of a color and rhythmic plastic. His stylistics combines a saturated color with a laconic composition very often based on the principle of geometrical abstractions.

Oscar Kacharov was a frequent exhibitor in Moscow and international group exhibitions including art shows in Great Britain and the United Arab Emirates. His solo shows were held in Moscow (the Tretyakov Gallery in 2004 and the Russian Academy of Arts in 2008), Berlin, Tbilisi, Tel-Aviv. The artist’s works are in collections of many museums in Russia, as well as in private collections in Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Poland, the United States and other countries.

The exhibition will be accompanied by the presentation of a monograph “Dialogue with the Time” by M. Klimenko.
