Solo Show of Works by the People’s Artist of Russia Boris Messerer in Vyatka

On display in V.M. and A.M. Vasnetsov Art Museum in Vyatka are over 80 paintings, graphic works, theater set designs by Boris Messerer, the world renowned master of theater and decorative art, People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, winner of State Prizes of the Russian Federation.

Boris Messerer is an internationally recognized artist. Skillfully combining various types and genres of art (set design, painting, graphic art, installations) he achieves an extraordinary attractiveness of his works. One of the artist’s favorite techniques is a watercolor. Many of his works have been created in Tarusa, which nature in its time inspired his wife poet Bella Akhmadulina that resulted in their joint album entitled “Tarusa”.

The master has made a lot of illustrations for books and stage designs for TV movies, he is an author of concepts and designs for more than 30 prestigious exhibitions in A. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, among them are “Russian Court Costume”, “In Honor of the 100th Anniversary of A. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts”, “Moscow-Berlin”, “Collection of Prince Yusupov” and many others.

On December 10, 2011 Boris Messerer will take part in Bella Akhmadulina commemoration meeting that will take place in the above Museum at 15.00.
