Solo Show of Works by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Galina Makaveeva at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts presents paintings and drawings by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Galina Makaveeva. The display includes landscapes of the middle region of Russia, the Crimea, Greece, Mongolia, China, Jerusalem, as well genre compositions and still lifes.

“I am a realist artist, when working I am influenced by everything: my emotions, thoughts, recollections and things I can see in this moment” – says the artist about her creative credo.

In 1959 Galina Makaveeva graduated from the Moscow Institute of Printing Art where she studied graphic art under noted masters such as A. Goncharov, I. Chekmazov, P. Zakharov. She worked as an illustrator of children’s books for many years and over 70 books with her illustrations were published in Russia. In 1969-1979 she was a chief artist of the popular children’s “Murzilka” magazine.

Galina Makaveeva has participated in international group exhibitions of printing art in Bologna, Barcelona, Bratislava, Strasbourg. Her easel paintings and graphic works were exhibited in her solo shows in Warsaw, Helsinki, Tampere (Finland), Adelaide (Australia), Changsha (China). She is a holder of the Gold and Silver Medals of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Her works are in collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, as well as in private collections in Germany, Italy, France, Sri Lanka, Finland and other countries.
