CHRONOTOP: International Art Project in Krasnoyarsk

Exhibition halls of the Urals, Siberia and Far East Regional Department of the Russian Academy of Arts, 197 Prospect named after “Krasnoyarsky Rabochy” Newspaper, Krasnoyarsk, Russia The Romanov Art Gallery, 27a Academic Vavilov Street, Krasnoyarsk, Russia The name of the Project CHRONOTOP literally means (from the Greek chronos-time and topos-place) time and space or figuratively – “at the height of time”. Initiated by the Gallery “Siberian Art”, it traces the art development from the outset – the Siberian antiquity to today’s art and the rebirth of spiritual heritage of our ancestors in the contemporary art practice. The Project is aimed at the establishment of a dialogue between private artistic chronotops or author’s models of the world as a way to reflect an individual artistic thinking. It is important to study types, correlations of the art time – historical, mythological, psychological (individual); to show the peculiarities of the cultural and genetic memory of artists who deal with the theme of antiquity. On show in the exhibition halls of the Urals, Siberia and Far East Regional Department of the Russian Academy of Arts are over 200 works by renowned Siberian painters, the exposition in the Romanov Art Gallery presents works by artists from Australia, Belgium and South Africa.
